The 80th birthday of Mrs. Helen McLaughlin, 35 Ogden St., Hammond was marked by several celebrations.
Following a mass in her honor held at St. Joseph Church, Hammond, she was feted at a luncheon in the home of her son, Ralph of Calumet City.
That same evening she was guest of honor at a dinner hosted by her children in the Log Restaurant, Dyer.
The following day, a family dinner was held in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norman (Helen) Mills of Highland.
Her other children include Sr. Dolores Marie McLaughlin, O.S.F. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Mrs. Don (Eileen) Conces of Seattle, Wash. and Robert McLaughlin of Hammond. The family also includes 15 grandchildren.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born Oct. 12, 1894 in Wanatah, Ind. and moved to the Calumet Region a year later.
She is a member of the Senior Citizens, Rosary Society of St. Joseph’s Church and the St. Margaret Hospital Guild.

Helen Ruth McLaughlin, age 86, of Hammond, passed away Sunday, November 9, 1980 at St. Margaret Hospital. Survivors: two sons, Robert L. McLaughlin of Hammond, Ralph J. (Barbara) McLaughlin of Calumet City; three daughters, Ssiter Dolores Marie OSF of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mrs. M. Eileen (Donald) Conces of Bellview, Washington, Mrs. Helen R. (Norman) Mills of Highland; one sister, Mary Ruth of Waukegan, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren.
Funeral services will be helf Tuesday, November 11, 9:30 a.m. from the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 5840 Hohman Ave., Hammond, with Mass to follow at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Church, with Rev. William Spranger officiating. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Monday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society, the St. Margaret Hospital Guild, the 3rd Order of St. Francis, the National Catholic Order of Foresters, Senior Citizens Club and the American Legion Auxiliary of Lansing. Rosary will be recited Monday evening, 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
